ELF-Emirati Women's Day
As part of a series celebrating Emirati Women’s Day this month, and in collaboration with Montegrappa, Emirates Literature Foundation brought together a select group of Emirati women creatives for an intimate literary salon — an evening to reflect on the works that have shaped us and the words we choose to leave for those who come after us.
Led by the eloquent host, publisher and translator, Fatima Al Khatib, the panel of distinguished creatives reflected on the books, writers, and works that have shaped them, and the experiences that continue to inspire their creative practice.
The distinguished panel of Emirati ladies consisted of:
- Dr Mariam AlHashimi, Publisher & Translator
- Asma Seddiq, Founder and President of Salon Al-Multaqa
- Fatima Mohammed, Children’s Author
Each participating creative had written ‘A Letter to a Young Writer’, a personal message in the form of advice, a memory, a question, an encouragement, or simply something they wish they had known at the beginning of their own journey.
The salon concluded with a Q&A conversation, book signings, and an opportunity for attendees to meet and connect with the participating creatives and fellow guests.
"The collection of letters, created especially for this occasion celebrating Emirati Women, will be on display at the Emirates Literature foundation and will serve as a lasting record of the ideas, wisdom, and experiences that Emirati women creatives are choosing to pass on to future generations."
